Last Saturday 14 May 2022 Lufthansa celebrated its 60 years of continuous service in South Africa, reaching a milestone in its history in this country. It was an important day to look back at 60 years of connecting South Africa to Europe, of staying committed to the African continent, contributing to the successful development of the country and facilitating easy and comfortable reach for people worldwide.
“Since the inception of our very first flight to South Africa on 14 May 1962, Lufthansa has been at the forefront of building trade relations between Germany and South Africa, whilst remaining true to our vision of connecting people and cultures form all over the world. Even throughout the global COVID-19 pandemic, our vision of maintaining an important ‘lifeline connection’ to South Africa was met, when we were able to successfully continue our repatriation flight program between South Africa and Germany”, says Dr. Andre Schulz, General Manager Southern & East Africa Lufthansa Group. “Our customers and employees are the key to our successful development in South Africa, and we look back at this moment in history with great pride and we celebrate with you by saying ‘Thank You’ for the last 60 years of flying to South Africa together,” adds Dr. Schulz.
