Jihad Boueri, SITA vice president, airports and airlines sector spoke to World Airnews about the role of the SITA Smart Path technology can play in boosting recovery

WAN: Can you briefly tell us a bit about yourself (your background) and the current position you occupy in your company? And how long you have been in this position?

JB: I am based in Beirut, Lebanon. In my current role, I am responsible for managing SITA’s airport and airline portfolio across the Middle East, India, and Africa (MEIA), which includes solution design, pricing, bid management, and delivery. I have extensive experience in solution architecture, master systems integration, and project management.

Since joining SITA in 1986, I have worked closely with nearly all airlines and airports operating in MEIA, developing a strong understanding of their operating environment and the wider air transport industry.

I hold a master’s degree in Telecommunication Engineering from St. Joseph University in Beirut and an MBA from Strathclyde Graduate Business School in Scotland. I also have an ACI-ICAO AMPAP Associate Diploma and ACI Airport Operations Diploma.

WAN: What was the thinking that informed SITA’s SMART PATH technology? How long has this been in the making as surely you and your team (department) have been working on this long before Covid-19?
